The Museum of Raw Thoughts is a virtual repository where unrecognized thoughts, ideas, and concepts find a platform. It celebrates the power of the human mind by transforming intangible, unrealized ideas into a captivating, digital exhibition. Designed to foster creativity and innovation, this museum serves as a reminder that every object, concept, or innovation began as a thought.
Concept
How might we create a digital space that highlights forgotten or unrealized thoughts, allowing users to interact and contribute to new ideas?
Our challenge was to create a digital platform that could:
-
Represent abstract thoughts in a tangible, interactive way
-
Foster a sense of community around idea sharing
-
Encourage creative thinking and innovation
Problem Statement
The inspiration behind the Museum of Raw Thoughts comes from the idea that the mind is the most powerful tool for creation. Everything we see and experience was once just a fleeting thought. This museum captures those moments of raw potential, allowing them to be explored and expanded upon.
Key inspirations include:
- The Power of Thought: Emphasizing how thoughts are the seeds of innovation and transformation.
- Unfinished Art: Influenced by exhibitions like the MET's Unfinished, which highlighted the beauty and potential in incomplete works.
- Creative Collaboration: Encouraging visitors to contribute and build on ideas, much like a collective consciousness where thoughts evolve through interaction.
Inspiration
To bring abstract thoughts into a form that could be explored within a museum context, the team conducted research on how people engage with intangible ideas:
Psychological Studies: Understanding how thoughts are formed and how they influence creativity and innovation.
Museum Visits: We visited various exhibitions, including the MET's Unfinished Thoughts, to observe audience interactions with unfinished concepts and raw ideas.
Prototyping with Peers: Classmates and acquaintances participated in thought submission exercises, helping us understand how to make the concept of raw thoughts more tangible.

Theme Setting
Thoughts are abstract in nature. They are neither digital nor physical. The form we are presenting in the museum consists of text and imagery. To make the experience immersive, we decided to create a box-themed design for the museum. The closed box represents the general overview of a thought, while the open box allows for a deeper exploration of it.

COLOR PALLETTE
The color scheme for the museum is primarily complementary, subtly blending warm and cool tones. The bright and diverse colors represent the untamed nature of thoughts. A black theme is used for the boxes to create a more immersive experience.

THEMES
Themes are different prompts generated by the museum for the audience open for submissions. These themes will then collect the transformational most thoughts and display them as artifacts.
MUSEUM TICKETS
Tickets serve as memorable keepsakes of a museum visit. Many of us have kept tickets as mementos from past experiences. To honor this tradition, we skeuomorphically reimagined the concept and introduced digital tickets that can be saved and shared on social media. These digital tickets will be issued each time a user enters a new theme, blending nostalgia with modern digital engagement.
MUSEUM VISIT OBSERVATIONS
We visited the Met Museum specifically to observe the artifacts displayed in the *Unfinished Thoughts Left Visible* exhibit. We observed about 15 artifacts and noted how other visitors interacted with these paintings and sculptures.

Observations
Quality of the paintings is the same even if it is unfinished.
The process of the artist's style can be seen.
The importance of the story behind the painting and the reason it was unfinished.
The origin of the painting and artist.
This is an unfinished painting displayed in the museum. It remained incomplete because the artist passed away before finishing it. However, his friends and relatives had been encouraging him to complete the painting so it could be displayed in the museum. Well, destiny had other plans! As we observed the visitors in the museum, we realized that even though the painting was unfinished, it still caught people's attention. Notably, a woman read the accompanying information and called her group members to take a closer look. This made us realize the importance of explaining the thought behind the work.
Significance of Thought Explanations:
The quality of thought explanations plays a crucial role in how art or concepts are perceived. Clear and meaningful explanations not only provide context but also engage viewers, enhancing their appreciation and understanding.
Changing the Interface for Prominent Explanations:
We realized the importance of making thought explanations more prominent in our design. By changing the interface to highlight these explanations, we can draw attention to the deeper meaning behind the work, improving user engagement and interaction.
Author of the Thought:
Initially, our prototype did not consider showcasing the authorship of the thought process. However, adding this feature can create a stronger connection between the viewer and the artist or creator, personalizing the experience.
Thought Process Display:
Displaying the thought process offers insight into the creator’s journey, making the final work more relatable. This can be achieved through a structured narrative, guiding the audience through the creator's inspiration and decision-making steps.
Thought Quality Optimization with Guidelines:
To ensure the quality of the explanations, we propose creating a set of guidelines. These guidelines would standardize how thoughts are presented, ensuring clarity, consistency, and engagement while allowing flexibility for artistic expression.
